U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS– Governor Albert Bryan Jr. has officially proclaimed November as a month to highlight and raise awareness about several important causes that impact the lives of Virgin Islanders.
These designations reflect the commitment of the Bryan-Roach Administration to promoting health, cultural recognition, environmental responsibility, and community support.
Below are some of the important reasons which make November a Special month.
National Diabetes Month
November marks National Diabetes Month. It is a critical time to focus on education and testing related to diabetes. As we know, it is a leading health issue in the U.S. and the eighth leading cause of death in the United States as of 2021. The Governor urges Virgin Islanders to take proactive steps toward understanding and managing the condition.
National Adoption Month
This month also honors National Adoption Month. It celebrates families who have opened their hearts to children and teens in need. Moreover, it also highlights the vital role of adoption agencies and advocates in creating loving and supportive homes.
National Alzheimer’s Disease Awareness Month
November is recognized as National Alzheimer’s Disease Awareness Month. It urges the community to learn more about this disease and offer support to individuals affected by Alzheimer’s, as well as their caregivers.
National Entrepreneurship Month
Governor Bryan encourages the celebration of local entrepreneurs during National Entrepreneurship Month. It recognizes their contributions to economic growth, job creation, and the continued prosperity of the Virgin Islands.
National Family Caregivers Month
This month also honors the selfless work of caregivers who provide essential support to the elderly, sick, or disabled. The Virgin Islands Family Caregiver Support Program continues to offer critical resources to assist those in this vital role.
Virgin Islands Indigenous Native American Heritage Month
Governor Bryan has declared November as Virgin Islands Indigenous Native American Heritage Month to honor the culture. It also honors the history and contributions of Indigenous Native American peoples, who have left a lasting impact on the Virgin Islands.
D. Hamilton Jackson Month
November celebrates the legacy of D. Hamilton Jackson, a pioneering labor leader from St. Croix who fought for social justice and equality, advancing the rights of workers in the territory.’
Virgin Islands Recycles Month
As part of ongoing environmental efforts, November is Virgin Islands Recycles Month. This proclamation underscores the importance of responsible waste management and encourages everyone to take part in protecting the territory’s environment.
Survivors of Homicide Victims Awareness Month
November is also dedicated to honoring survivors of homicide victims, providing support and raising awareness for those who have lost loved ones to violence.
Military Families Month
Governor Bryan has declared November Military Families Month to recognize and honor the sacrifices made by U.S. service members and their families in the Virgin Islands.

- Notary Public Proclamation Day– November 7
- Veterans Day – November 11
- American Education Week – November 13-17
- National Apprenticeship Week – November 17-23
- Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Wee – November 18-26
- Meatless Day– November 25, a tradition honoring the legacy of Dada Vaswani and promoting a vegetarian lifestyle within the Virgin Islands’ East Indian community.
Governor Bryan encourages all Virgin Islanders to actively participate in these observances, fostering awareness, compassion, and a spirit of community throughout November.
