Three weeks ago, Yellow Cedar Media hosted the first installment in our ongoing town hall series. This time we are asking a question that doesn’t get nearly enough attention: Why did you stay?
After the viral success of Why We Left, which featured Virgin Islanders living abroad discussing their reasons for leaving, we turn the spotlight on those who made the opposite decision — those who chose to remain.
The panel will feature a diverse group of educators, business owners, creatives, and public servants who have put down roots, despite the challenges.
The discussion will tackle hard questions: How do we make staying more sustainable? How do we support those who are choosing to stay — not just emotionally, but economically? And how do we grow the kind of Virgin Islands where staying doesn’t feel like a sacrifice.
These are not easy conversations. But they are necessary.
We invite the public to continue this dialogue — live and in person — as we host a follow-up session tomorrow. The energy is building. The voices are strong. The movement is real.
