The Virgin Islands Council on the Arts (VICA) and the Virgin Islands Economic Development Authority’s Enterprise Zone Commission (EZC) are thrilled to announce the Made in the USVI Pop-Up Shop reopening for the holiday season. This beloved seasonal store will run from Wednesday, December 11, through Saturday, December 21, 2024, in downtown Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas.
Conveniently located on the first block of Main Street, next to Lucky Jewelers in a distinctive purple building, the Made in the USVI Pop-Up Shop will offer a unique holiday shopping experience. Store hours are 9 AM to 6 PM, Monday through Friday, and 10 AM to 4 PM on Saturdays. The shop will be closed on Sundays, but hours will extend during the Miracle on Main Street event on Friday, December 13, 2024. Visitors can explore an array of locally made treasures, including food items, bags, clothing, artwork, spa products, and much more.
“This Pop-Up Shop reflects our local artisans’ incredible talent and creativity. It showcases their unique products and fosters economic growth and pride in what the USVI has to offer the world,” said Nadine Marchena Kean, managing director of the EZC. “Our vibrant community of talented individuals brings the spirit of the USVI to life through culture, art, and entrepreneurship,” she added.
The holiday season will also feature special events, including an opening night celebration on December 11 from 5 PM to 6:30 PM and a Santa-themed event on Saturday, December 14, 2024.
Pop-up stores like Made in the USVI allow local artisans and businesses to connect with customers and showcase their products in an engaging, hands-on way. The concept allows small businesses to test the market, grow their brand, and celebrate the vibrant culture and craftsmanship of the U.S. Virgin Islands. Statistics from Pop-Up Republic indicate the pop-up retail industry generates an impressive $10 billion in sales annually.
Since its debut in 2018, the Made in the USVI initiative has provided a vital platform for local artisans and small manufacturers to grow their businesses within the Territory and beyond. This year’s shop promises to continue that tradition while bringing holiday joy to residents and visitors alike.
