The Department of Public Works (DPW) is providing an update on the ongoing Downtown Christiansted Road Rehabilitation Project. DPW contractor VI Paving Inc. has successfully completed the paving of Strand Street and is now focused on milling and paving sections of Queen Cross Street. Additionally, work has begun on striping sections of the roadway from Phase 1.
Phase 2 of the project includes improvements to King Street, Strand Street, Queen Street, New Street, West Street, and Smith Street.
To ensure safety and minimize disruptions, flaggers will be stationed on-site to assist motorists in navigating through the work zones. Motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes and follow all posted detours while construction is ongoing.
The Department of Public Works appreciates the community’s patience and cooperation as we work to improve the road infrastructure throughout the territory.
