The legacy of palm trees and their many uses is a testament to the resourcefulness and sustainability embedded in Caribbean heritage. Through the course of time, many of these trades are fading into obscurity, widening the growing gap of cultural erasure in the region. It is important that small communities, like ours, take every opportunity to teach these trades to as many people who are willing to learn. Cultural preservation is community work and requires community engagement.
