Caribbean Dance Company to Host “More Than Dance”: Artist Showcase and Silent Raffle

The Caribbean Dance Company (CDC) of the Virgin Islands will host its highly anticipated holiday fundraiser, “More Than Dance: Art Showcase and Silent Raffle,” at the Starlight Lounge in the Sidney Lee Theater. The event promises to be an unforgettable evening of live music, stunning dance performances, thought-provoking spoken word, and captivating visual art—all created by members of the vibrant Caribbean Dance School community.

The showcase will include live music by the talented Deri, an exceptional performance by CDC alum Dr. Elle Nielsen, and dance presentations by the Level 3 students and the renowned Caribbean Dance School Ensemble. As an added highlight, attendees can look forward to a Silent Raffle featuring amazing prizes, with all proceeds supporting the CDC’s mission to nurture and grow the talent of its students.

CDC’s repertoire is a vibrant celebration of the region’s rich cultural tapestry, blending African and Indian influences brought by the enslaved with colonial dance traditions from England, France, and Spain. The company honors the Caribbean’s rhythms, movements, and belief systems through traditional dances from Cuba, Haiti, Puerto Rico, St. Croix, Martinique, Montserrat, St. Kitts, and Trinidad and Tobago. Over its 47-year history, CDC has captivated audiences in North America, Europe, and the Middle East with over 53 tours, master classes, and community outreach programs, solidifying its reputation as a global ambassador of Virgin Islands culture.

Tickets are $40 per person or $75 for two and can be purchased online through Eventbrite or from any Ensemble member. The event begins at 6:30 PM, and attendees are encouraged to bring friends and family to this festive celebration of culture, art, and community.
